Most significant wins/accomplishments: I am most proud that I placed 8th at USA Folkstyle Nationals in Iowa. I am also proud that I am currently in the #1 spot for Future Olympian Rankings. I feel accomplished when I score on an opponent that always beats me. That shows improvement.
A fantastic wrestler with a great spirit, Hunter White steps onto the mat and throws it all down! He loves wrestling for the drive and determination it has taught him. Most of all, Hunter has that NEVER GIVE UP attitude that can take him anywhere he wants to go. And we can't wait to see where that is! Keep it up Hunter!
Why do you enjoy wrestling?
I enjoy wrestling because it is one of the only sports that teaches you drive and determination. Plus I get to travel all over the country and make lots of good friends in different states.
What's the most important thing wrestling has taught you?
The most important thing that wrestling has taught me is how to learn from different people, including my opponents. Wrestling has also taught me to set goals for my future and to NEVER GIVE UP!
What's the best advice your coach has given you?
My coach tells me to fight through the pain and be aggressive.
How do you handle tough defeats?
I handle it like it’s just one match and I have another one to get ready for if I want to make it back to true second. It’s like Russell Wilson says, “The goal is to go 1-0 every time!”
What’s your proudest achievement as a wrestler?
My proudest achievement is getting 8th at Nationals. I am also proud when I help younger wrestlers learn new moves or improve on their skills that help them get on the podium.
What's your favorite wrestling move?
My favorite move is the Sun Devil.
Do you have a hero/role model?
My Hero is my Dad and my role model would have to be Jesse Delgado.
What's your favorite subject in school?
I love art, math, and science.
Do you play any sports aside from wrestling?
Yes, I play football and participate in crossfit. Next year I want to play soccer for my school too.
Do you have any other hobbies outside of wrestling?
I like to do crossfit, make art, hang out with friends, play X-Box, and learn to cook from my Mom.
What are your goals for your wrestling career?
My goal for wrestling is to become a 4 time high school state champion and continue on to college with a full athletic scholarship. Unless I get accepted to Cornell, then it will have to be an academic scholarship because they don’t have athletic scholarships. Then I want to become a NCAA Champion!
What are your goals for the next 1-5 years?
I really want to get accepted to college as a Jr. in high school like Chandler Rogers (OSU) did. I also want to continue to learn from as many people as possible and then pass that knowledge onto others.
.What is your biggest area where you could improve?
I could improve by becoming more coachable. Sometimes I take the critique as criticism and I need to learn how to accept it better and use it to improve more.
