Why do you enjoy wrestling?
I enjoy wrestling because it is not like any other sport, well actually to me it's not a sport it's a life style. It requires hard work, dedication and it is always something different every time. I also enjoy wrestling because whenever I am trying to make weight all my friends are like you're crazy and they always say how they couldn't do it but for me the feeling that I put in the effort and made weight is worth it.
What's the most important thing wrestling has taught you?
Wrestling has taught me things I never really had before like self-confidence, determination and control. It has also taught me to work for what I want.
What's the best advice your coach has given you?
My coach has always told me that anybody can win on any give day so work harder. This is a huge motivator for me and pushes me to go that extra mile.
How do you handle tough
I don't think I have ever gotten mad and thrown myself after a match. We learned right from the beginning in youth no matter if you win or lose you do it with a good attitude. I always know that it was my fault I lost and that I should learn from it.
What’s your proudest achievement as a wrestler?
What's your favorite wrestling move?
My favorite wrestling move is definitely the headlock. All through youth and even now I have that move. I have been the underdog in many situations and won after throwing it.
Do you have a hero/role model?
Coach Mike Uveino and Assistant Coaches Steve Bradt and Jake Dale. They are respected, intelligent and hardworking. I feel I have a real connection to them for not giving up on me even when it seemed like all I did was mess things up. They are tough on their wrestlers but are always there for them no matter what.
What's your favorite subject in school?
Do you play any sports aside from wrestling?
I played baseball for 7 years (catcher position), soccer for 9 (goalie and full back), and ran track for one year (4x4, pole vault)
Do you have any other hobbies outside of wrestling?
I love to play video games and hangout my friends and family. I also help out on my grandfather's farm.
What are your goals for your wrestling career?
My wrestling career goals are to win States and wrestle in college.
What are your goals for the next 1-5 years?
My personal goals for the next 1-5 years are to graduate and go on to college. I am not sure what I want to do yet I know I want to go.
Where is your biggest area where you could improve?
In wrestling my biggest area to improve are on neutral attacks, neutral defense and a bit of top work. My personal area that needs improvement is better decision making skills. I am learning all the time.
