Most significant wins/accomplishments: 2014 New York State Champion, 6U 55lb. Division. 

 

Joey Mastrantonio! A great name and an inspiring wrestler. Coming to us all the way from New York, Joey has been a true pleasure to watch as he grew and conquered the HERO Quest. Joey knows that to be a good wrestler you have to train hard, keep your head up, and always remember that losing is part of the game and you have to move on from it. From a young age Joey knew he loved wrestling, and we are sure he is going some great places! Be sure to read on and learn more about Joey and all of his ambitions. 

Why do you enjoy wrestling?

I like it because it is a one-on-one sport.  

 

What is the most important thing wrestling has taught you?

It has taught me to be a good sport and to train hard.   

What's the best advice your coach has given you? 

Always keep your head up! 

How do you handle tough defeats? 

Win like a man, lose like a man.  

What’s your proudest achievement as a wrestler?

Winning the NYWAY 2014 State Championships!  

How old were you when you started wrestling?

4!

 What is your favorite post-tournament meal or treat? 

Chicken Wings.

 

What's your favorite wrestling move?


 

I like the Petterson the most. 

Do you have a favorite song that gets you pumped up before a practice or match?

Hall of Fame. 

Who is your Hero/role model?  

 

My parents are my role models.   

What is your favorite subject in school?

I like science the most!

What is your favorite movie?

Do you play any sports aside from wrestling?

I also play football, baseball, and MMA!  

Do you have any favorite hobbies outside of sports?  

I enjoy playing with my friends. 

What are your goals for this season? 

I want to be a State and National Champion in 2015.   

What are your goals for your wrestling career? 

Winning an Olympic Gold Medal.
