Back-to-School Series #2: Smoothies to Jump-Start Your Morning


Our "Back-To-School" series continues with post two, where we discuss the most important meal of the day!

It’s not news that many people don’t have enough time to eat breakfast, let alone a nutritious one to keep you full for more than an hour. A smoothie is a great way to get in fruits (and even veggies!) and all their benefits without excessive effort. Here are three power smoothies that are simple, quick, and give Jamba Juice a run for its money!

 

(Note: You can tailor these to dietary restrictions or preferences as needed. I.E. 2% milk: almond or soy milk; peanut butter: almond butter; etc.)

 

  1. Blueberry Blitzkrieg

The peanut butter is the secret to the delicious taste in this specific recipe, almost making it more of a treat than a healthy meal!

 

1-2 bananas (frozen if desired)

1 tbsp creamy peanut butter

1 cup frozen blueberries

1-1/2 cups 2% milk

 

  1. Green Genie

Green drinks used to be considered gross, but not anymore! You can only taste the tropical fruit in this one while getting in multiple vitamins and antioxidants.

 

1-2 bananas

1 cup frozen mango chunks

1-2 handfuls spinach

1-1/2 cups 2% milk

 

  1. Pink Punch

A combination of classic red fruits and an essentially magic health seed will be sweet and increase strength – chia seeds are known for fiber, protein, and boosting performance in Mayan and Aztec runners.

 

1-2 bananas

1 cup raspberries

1 cup strawberries

2 tbsp chia seeds

1 cup 2% milk
