What sports do you play?
What is your team/club?
Quicksilver Swim Club
What are your short and/or long term sports-related goals?
My short term goal is to get my summer JNAT and my long term goal is to hopefully make the 2020 Olympic team!
What has been your proudest moment as an athlete?
The proudest moment as an athlete was probably 2016 long course far westerns where I won every single breaststroke event as a 12 year old.
What do you think are the three most important qualities needed to succeed as a young athlete?
And passion of course!
Why is paying attention to your nutrition as an athlete important?
Without a healthy and balanced diet you can't be efficient in practice and won't be able to improve long term.
Do you have a favorite post-game snack or meal?
Chocolate milk by far is the best post workout meal.
Do you have any superstitions or rituals on game day?
Well I have a lucky suit, and if I have a brand new tech suit I won't where it until finals the night of my big event and if I wear it before it gives me bad juju for the rest of my races. 😂 Same thing with my caps. If I don't have my sacred water bottle the whole entire meet is over, it literally means I won't swim well.
What is your biggest strength as a young athlete?
My biggest strength is probably my passion. Without the love for swimming I wouldn't be where I am today.
What is one thing you're working to get better at?
I'm getting better at not showing my emotions. After a bad race I can't help but be angry and show it on my face with a bad look. As I get older I have to put a smile on my face no matter what because I still got to swim and that's what matters.
Which athlete or person do you look up to?
I look up to Elizabeth Beisel. She's one of my absolute favorite swimmers. She's always got a smile on her face, spirited, and loves everything about the sport.
We can't wait to see where Skyler's journey will take her!
